Local Rule 7.2 governs the form of briefs in the Northern District of Texas (effective September 2, 2025).
General form (LR 7.2(a)): "A brief must be printed, typewritten, or presented in some other legible form. The brief must be on an 8½-by-11-inch page. The font size must be 12-point or larger. The text must be double-spaced, but quotations more than two lines long may be indented and single-spaced. Headings and footnotes may be single-spaced. Margins must be at least one inch on all four sides. Page numbers may be placed in the margins, but no text may appear there."
Length (LR 7.2(c)): General briefs must not exceed 25 pages; reply briefs must not exceed 10 pages. MSJ briefs (LR 56.5(b)): principal brief not to exceed 50 pages, reply not to exceed 25 pages.
Note: LR 7.2 imposes no specific typeface requirement beyond 12-point or larger. No court-approved typeface list.
